Mirror to the Past • Back when I was in 4-H and new to working with a camera, I took this photo of an octagonal barn in Downey, Iowa. At first glance, the structure appears to be reflected off a frozen pond, but actually, it’s the top of my truck. In any case, this old barn is a beauty.

A Bed Beneath the Boughs • Her family’s colossal Christmas tree raised widespread concern.

The Bright Side • Where we winter, we don’t often get much snow. So when a storm delivered 4 inches in less than an hour, we made the most of cattle-feeding time by catching snowflakes on our tongues.
